The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at Universitas Pembangunan Nasional "Veteran" Yogyakarta (UPNVY) has launched the "SobatFISIP" hotline, which serves as a channel for reporting cases of sexual violence and provides counseling for academic issues within the FISIP community, on Sunday (October 30, 2022).
Machya Astuti Dewi, the Dean of FISIP UPNVY, stated that the launch of the "SobatFISIP" hotline is a concrete step taken by FISIP to create safe and comfortable space. "We are committed to being a faculty that is safe and comfortable for learning and creativity," she said.
Not acting alone, FISIP collaborates with the Persona Gama Psychology Clinic to realize this commitment. "Through the SobatFISIP hotline, members of the academic community can receive counseling assistance for academic matters as well as cases of sexual violence," she added.
The launch of the SobatFISIP hotline took place during the culmination of the 29th Anniversary of FISIP UPNVY. In addition to the hotline launch and the signing of a cooperation agreement with Persona Gama, the anniversary event also featured traditional art performances by FISIP UPNVY, including the Kethek Ogleng Kalasan (a partner village of FISIP UPNVY), the Elek YoBand FISIP UPNVY, and the distribution of prizes.
In her address, Machya emphasized the importance of upholding the values of defending the nation, considering that UPNVY itself is part of a "Campus that Defends the Nation." "One of our commitments is also to preserve culture. The gamelan ensemble we present is often used by foreign students for learning... and now it is also used by students and professors for practice," she explained.
Separately, UPNVY Rector M. Irhas Efendi appreciated FISIP UPNVY's efforts in implementing the values of defending the nation through culture. "Loving culture is a duty... only with strong culture and values can an organization be strong," he explained.
It is worth noting that a national seminar titled "Realizing a Campus that Defends the Nation, Free from Sexual Violence" was also held as part of the celebration of FISIP UPNVY's 29th Anniversary on Monday (October 24, 2022). The event was attended by 200 students and included the participation of the student executive bodies of state universities in the Yogyakarta region and the Rifka Annisa Women's Crisis Center.
"We are also holding a call for papers aimed at students. The deadline has been extended to November 10, 2022. There is an incentive of 12.5 million Indonesian rupiahs. The top 25 articles will be published as a book with an ISBN," said Tegar Koraag, Coordinator of the FISIP UPNVY Anniversary Committee.
